Debswana appoints Mponang as Executive Head of Human Resources

The diamond giant, Debswana Diamond Company has announced the appointment of Matlhogonolo Matty Mponang as Executive Head of Human Resources, effective 01 April 2023.

Mponang joins Debswana from De Beers where she was Diamond Trading Head of Human Resources, a position she held for close to five (5) years. The De Beers Diamond Trading Head of Human Resources portfolio is a Midstream Executive Committee role which transcends different geographical locations including, De Beers Sightholder Sales South Africa, Namibia Diamond Trading Company and De Beers Auction Sales, Singapore.

Prior to this, she held various leadership roles in organisations such as Botswana Accountancy College where she was the Deputy Executive Director, Corporate Services. In the foregoing role, her portfolio spanned across Human Resources, Finance and Procurement, Information Communication. Mponang has also operated across industries, government entities and non-governmental institutions.

Matlhogonolo Mponang

Mponang holds a B. Sc in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. She is a seasoned Human Resources professional and business executive with over twenty (20) years’ experience in the field of Human Resources Management, Organisational Development and Design, Change Management and Strategic Leadership.

She currently sits on the boards of the Namibia Diamond Trading Company, De Beers Holdings Botswana, Debswana Pension Fund and the University of Botswana Council; having previously served on other boards, including Water Utilities Pension Fund, Westwood International School Council, Okavango Diamond Company, Botswana Karate Foundation, Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (HR Committee)
