DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, November 22, 2023/ — Canon’s (www.Canon-Europe.com) CO2 emission reduction targets have been externally validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as being in accordance with the 1.5 °C Paris Agreement. Separately to the SBTi targets, Canon continues to reduce its product lifecycle CO2 emissions per product by 3% year on year. If sustained, this will equate to roughly a 50% reduction in emissions from 2008 levels by 2030. Bank Gaborone has reaffirmed its enduring partnership with the Diabetes Association of Botswana in the fight against diabetes, during the World Diabetes Day Commemoration. Recent statistics indicate that the prevalence of Diabetes in Botswana stood at 5.8%, and 30.6% of Batswana are obese or overweight. According to the International Diabetes Federation, the average prevalence of Diabetes for the continent stands at 3.2%. The Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) has approved the Botswana Netball Association’s (BONA) request for permission to host the African Netball Cup, following a windfall of P300 000 from Okavango Diamond Company (ODC). The tournament is scheduled from 26th November to 6th December 2023. The ODC sponsorship will go towards the hosting of the event while Africa Netball (AN) will cover the costs towards the officials’ upkeep and their Annual General Meeting which will run concurrently with the tournament. The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), has awarded a $2.6 million grant to Virginia Tech and the Kasane-based NGO, Centre for African Resources: Animals, Communities and Land Use (CARACAL) that will establish a new Wildlife Forensic Laboratory in Kasane.
