The Botswana Football Association (BFA), together with the football governing body FIFA will be holding a four day intermediate refereeing course for women effective today. The course, which is expected to end on Friday 07 October 2022 forms part of the Associations priorities pertaining to women football and development.

According to BFA CEO, Mr Mfolo Mfolo, the BFA remains committed to growing women football in both player and administrative aspects, and this course, is testament of this.

Speaking at the official opening which was held at Lekidi Football Center, the Chairperson of the National Women Football Committee Miss Itsholeng Disang urged the participants to use this opportunity wisely as it is a step in the right direction towards increasing and building capacity in local women football.

The BFA’s effort to train match officials specific to women was borne from the fact that the women game is evolving and doing well. I encourage you to do your best and always embrace fairness in all matches you are assigned to officiate. You must conduct ethically all the time to allow regions and BFA to run smooth competitions,” she said.

Following completion of this course, the 32 women in attendance will be promoted and certified to officiate at the national first league and premiere league respectfully.
