The Botswana Football Association (BFA) women football manager Tsholofelo Setlhoko (41) continues to defy odds in a male dominated football administration hierarchical positions.

She will next month on 15th August jet off to Australia to join other distinguished guests at the second edition of the FIFA Women’s Football Convention as one of the speakers. The convention is scheduled to take place in Sydney/Gadigal, Australia, on 18 and 19 August 2023, just two days before the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ final, which is set to be the biggest women’s single-sporting event in the world, comes to its thrilling conclusion,

The convention also gives the Maun born football administrator a rare chance to rub shoulders with the world’s crème de la crème football administrators, former players and heads of federations networking opportunity in attendance of the final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. The conference will include high delegation cadres such as FIFA member association presidents and secretary generals.

Prior to the FIFA invite, Setlhoko had in March 2023 attended a FIFA leadership course in Switzerland. “It is a privilege to speak at a high delegation like this FIFA convention. The BFA has been tremendous in developing women football and this gives us the opportunity to share our story and exchange notes from other renowned nations or federations”, said Setlhoko.

“As a leader within the women’s game, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to be a guest speaker at the convention and share some of your invaluable knowledge and experiences as part of the convention.”, said the outgoing FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura.

In October 2018, FIFA launched its first ever Women’s Football Strategy in line with the Organisation’s overall strategic road map: to grow the game of football, protect its integrity and bring the game to all. Through this strategy, FIFA made a commitment to harness the power of football to achieve positive social impact.

The two day FIFA Women’s Football Convention will follow the structure of FIFA’s Women’s Football Strategy and will cover the following overarching topics such to develop and grow, showcase the game, communicate and commercialise, govern and lead, and educate and empower.
