The Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana (HATAB) is set to host its landmark 40th Annual Conference from April 24–25, 2025, in Maun. This milestone celebrates four decades of shaping Botswana’s tourism and hospitality industry and will be officially opened by the President of the Republic of Botswana, Advocate Gideon Duma Boko. Held under the theme “Botswana Tourism: What Are the Conditions for Growth?”, the conference promises to be both reflective and forward-looking, with keynote remarks from the Honourable Minister of Environment and Tourism, Mr. Wynter Boipuso Mmolotsi.
Regarded as one of the premier gatherings on Botswana’s corporate calendar, the conference is expected to bring together around 250 participants from across the public and private sectors, NGOs, international affiliates, and tourism partners. Together, these stakeholders will discuss pressing issues affecting the tourism landscape and explore opportunities for inclusive growth.
Attendees can expect a robust program filled with insightful keynote addresses, practical workshops, and high-impact networking sessions. From trends in digital tourism and sustainable travel to community-based tourism models and investment facilitation, the agenda is designed to spark meaningful conversations and foster long-term partnerships.
The conference experience will not only focus on dialogue and insights but also offer an opportunity to recognize the transformative work that has positioned Botswana as a regional tourism powerhouse. The 40-year journey of HATAB has been defined by a strong commitment to advocacy, innovation, and sustainability in hospitality and tourism. As part of the anniversary celebrations, HATAB will also pay tribute to individuals and organizations that have made a lasting impact on the industry’s growth and resilience.
Over the years, the HATAB Annual Conference has played a significant role in influencing policy, driving collaboration, and strengthening Botswana’s standing as a leading tourism destination.
