Stanbic Bank Botswana is pleased to confirm its commitment of P300,000 to support the The Genesis Project – Beauty with a Purpose, a philanthropic initiative of the reigning Miss Botswana, Lesego Chombo, under her foundation.

This contribution, spread over three years, reflects the Bank’s dedication to fostering positive change within local communities. The Genesis Project aims to create a conducive environment for the development of disadvantaged children through a developmental programme that equips parents with the skills and behavioral attributes that are necessary in promoting their children’s emotional, social and cognitive wellbeing.

This is alongside a developmental programme aimed at opening the minds of these children and increasing their exposure to the outside world and opportunities. Ultimately, the project aims to bridge the gap between the environment that children in rural and poverty-stricken homes grow up in versus that in economically stable and urban homes, thus working to level the playing field for children, regardless of their backgrounds.

With Stanbic Bank’s contribution, the project will receive more substantial support to further the mission of The Genesis Project. Speaking about the partnership, Stanbic Bank Botswana’s Chief Executive Mr. Chose Modise remarked, “We are delighted to partner with Miss Botswana, Lesego Chombo, in her commendable initiative, Beauty with a Purpose – The Genesis Project.

Having won our hearts as Miss Botswana, we as Stanbic Bank were even more impressed by the incredible and visionary work the Genesis Project team are driving for the community and the spirit of botho and giving that this encourages across the nation. At Stanbic Bank, we believe in the power of giving back and creating sustainable change. Through this partnership, we aim to positively impact the lives of individuals and families, contributing to their overall well-being and development and driving socio-economic growth.

This is truly aligned to our purpose as Stanbic Bank: Botswana is our home, we drive her growth.” The P300,000 contribution from Stanbic Bank Botswana will provide essential resources to drive various projects under The Genesis Project. This includes educational initiatives, healthcare programmes, environmental conservation efforts, and community development projects, all aimed at improving the quality of life of the recipients.

The project’s success to date is attributed to the collaboration between teachers, pediatricians, psychologists and social welfare professionals. Their skills and level of knowledge are of paramount importance in ensuring the project runs effectively. On behalf of The Genesis Project Lesego Chombo expressed her gratitude for Stanbic Bank Botswana’s support, stating, “I am thrilled to have Stanbic Bank Botswana as a partner in of The Genesis Project, working to support positive change in our communities for parents and children.

What began as a smaller donation grew as the Bank saw even more potential in what we are striving to do – this is the kind of confidence and support we need to be able to make a real difference in breaking the cycle of poverty hindering children’s progress. Their generous contribution will enable us to expand our reach and make tangible progress in the lives of individuals and communities, so that no child, and no community, is left behind or held back due to financial or social challenges. Together, we can create a brighter and more prosperous future for all to drive Botswana’s growth.”

The partnership between Stanbic Bank Botswana and The Genesis project exemplifies a shared commitment to corporate social investment and community development, rooted in a desire to drive growth for and with Batswana. Chombo is currently representing Botswana at the ongoing Miss World pageant in India.

As she continues to shine on the global stage, her story and that of The Genesis Project is demonstrative of the beauty and passion within Botswana and its inherent power to deliver progress and socio-economic growth. This is in line with Stanbic Bank’s own purpose: Botswana is our home; we driver her growth.
