In an effort to empower customers with greater financial security in today’s tough economic times, Stanbic Bank Botswana has launched a new offering under its Unayo platform. Unayo, which launched in August 2021, is a true financial partner for Batswana that allows all, including the underbanked and unbanked, to transact from the convenience of their mobile phone. Revolutionising what financial access and inclusion means in the local market, Unayo now brings a Grocery Benefit offer to users as yet another means to provide value for clients and customers who use Unayo.
The Unayo Grocery Benefit is an insurance solution designed to provide for the cost of groceries after the passing of loved ones who, before their passing, carried the responsibility for their families, or were what is commonly known as the breadwinners. This offer empowers customers to take out a Grocery Benefit policy to ensure a lump sum grocery payout for their beneficiaries after their passing, more relevant and necessary than ever before given the rising cost of living.
“Times are tough, but every breadwinner knows that no matter what, you make a plan. Stanbic Bank gets this – we understand that everyone needs to ensure that their loved ones are taken care of. The Unayo Grocery Benefit does just that,” said Portia Motshegare – Head, Consumer High Net Worth Clients and Acting Head, Business and Commercial Banking at Stanbic Bank Botswana.
The offer applies for any proUnayo account, with the eligible individual being between 18 and 64 years. The policy pays out a lump sum grocery benefit in the event of death of the policy holder, and there are 2 plan options available for users/customers to select from and the entire process can be triggered through the Unayo App. New users can also register and submit KYC documents on the Unayo App to then access this offer and other transaction options and value added services.
“Being part of the Unayo ecosystem allows you to make use of a number of transactional capabilities on the go, without needing a traditional bank account. You can cash-in, cash-out, make and receive payments, and more. Now, you can even take out a Grocery Benefit policy to ensure grocery benefits for your beneficiaries are well taken care of after your passing. We say, “Ona le yone” because the power is in our hands today to secure a strong tomorrow for our loved ones, so let us support our customers in doing just that, showing the real value of what Unayo can do for all,” concluded Motshegare.
