Banking giant, Stanbic Bank has reaffirmed its dedication to the growth and sustainability of Botswana’s agricultural sector by sponsoring the 2024 National Agriculture Show with a contribution of P100,000.00 . This sponsorship continues the bank’s long-standing support for the show since 2012, bringing the total sponsorship value to BWP 1 Million.
Stanbic Bank Botswana Head of Business and Commercial Banking, Lesego Osman said, “We believe in driving the growth of Botswana by investing in key sectors like agriculture. Our sponsorship of the National Agriculture Show reflects our purpose: ‘Botswana is our home; we drive her growth.’ We are committed to ensuring that the agricultural sector not only thrives financially but also embraces sustainable practices that benefit the entire nation.”
Through its Social, Economic, and Environment (SEE) initiative, Stanbic Bank underlines its commitment to making a positive impact on society while promoting economic growth and environmental stewardship. The bank’s involvement in the National Agriculture Show exemplifies how it actively fosters SEE initiative within the agricultural sector and contributing to Botswana’s economy.
Organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Agriculture Show highlights the critical role of the agricultural sector in driving economic development and promoting sustainable growth. This event brings together farmers, agribusinesses, policymakers, and industry experts to showcase innovations, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities within agriculture. The show features exhibitions, workshops, and panel discussions designed to highlight advancements in agricultural practices, technologies, and policies.
“Just two weeks ago, Stanbic Bank partnered with Kwenantle Farmers for the ground-breaking of their solar energy project—a pioneering endeavour setting new standards in sustainable agriculture. The 27-million-pula project includes the installation of solar-powered boreholes and irrigation systems across a new 264-hectare expansion, making it the first of its kind in Botswana. Stanbic Bank remains committed to driving Botswana’s growth by supporting initiatives that contribute to the nation’s economic resilience and environmental sustainability. “Botswana is our home; we drive her growth,” Osman concluded.
