The Orange FA Cup, Botswana’s premier football tournament, is back and more exciting than ever, for its 6th season! Announced at a high-profile launch event in Gaborone this morning at Orange Botswana roottop in the CBD, this year’s competition promises to be larger, more dynamic, and inclusive, with 48 teams from across the nation battling for glory from February to July 2025.

From Premier League powerhouses to grassroots clubs, teams will go head-to-head, with matches taking place in towns and villages nationwide. This year, the tournament is set to bring communities together and ignite football passion across Botswana.

The Orange FA Cup has long been a stepping stone for talent, with last year’s champion coach, Morena Ramoreboli, being promoted to the national team’s head coach after guiding Jwaneng Galaxy FC to victory. This tournament is more than just a competition—it transforms careers.

“As Botswana prepares for the Africa Cup of Nations, the Orange FA Cup continues to be an essential platform for scouting future national team stars,” said Maiga.

Orange Botswana CEO, Nene Maïga addressing the media

With matches stretching from Gaborone to the most remote corners of the country, this year’s competition will bring football to fans across Botswana, creating excitement and unity nationwide.

“We’re thrilled to bring the tournament to communities everywhere, giving every fan the chance to experience the thrill of the game,” said Maiga.

During Season 5, thousands of spectators filled the stands, and this year, we expect even greater attendance. Orange Botswana’s investment in the tournament is part of its ongoing dedication to fostering talent and bringing communities together through sport.

“The Orange FA Cup is just one part of our broader commitment to sports in Botswana, alongside our support for Team Botswana’s Olympic preparations,” emphasized Maiga. “We’re here to nurture talent, unite communities, and spark national pride.”
