World Athletics has officially granted Bronze Status to the Botswana International Cross Country event.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, 2025, the event will take place at the Glody Dube Sports Academy in Modipane, and will form part of the World Athletics Cross Country Bronze Tour.

This prestigious recognition places the event among internationally certified competitions contributing to the 2025 World Rankings. Additionally, it serves as a qualifier for the World Athletics Cross Country Championships, which will be held in Tallahassee, Florida, USA on January 10, 2026.

In further exciting news, the Golden Door Sports Agency will host the inaugural Ghetto Classic, also recognized as part of the World Athletics Continental Tour – Bronze. This historic event is scheduled for March 1, 2026, at the Francistown Stadium.

The Ghetto Classic will be followed by another major international fixture, The Road to Botswana Golden Grand Prix, scheduled for April 11, 2026, at the National Stadium in Gaborone. This event will form part of the World Athletics Tour – Challenger level, continuing to solidify Botswana’s presence on the global athletics stage.

The competition will be followed by the third edition of Botswana Golden Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold Level Meet penned for April 25, 2026, at the National Stadium, Gaborone. The event will be held a week before the World Athletics Relays 2026, which are set for May 2-3, 2026 in Gaborone.

Meanwhile, Glody Dube, Director of Golden Door Sports Agency, will tomorrow leave for Doha, Qatar, to attend the Diamond League Meeting scheduled for Friday. His participation includes a strategic meeting with international event organizers aimed at enhancing the next edition of the Botswana Golden Grand Prix 2026.
