On Thursday 18th and Wednesday 24th August 2022, Botswana Fibre Networks (BoFiNet) will hold stakeholder engagement seminars with local authorities, government departments, parastatals and private businesses in Jwaneng and Letlhakane respectively, on a new infrastructure, Fibre To The X (FTTX) that BoFiNet has just completed installing.
The project to install FTTx in Jwaneng and Letlhakane has been ongoing since 2021 and has connected more than 200 premises to high-speed fibre infrastructure that will improve connectivity in government offices and business premises in the areas. The infrastructure will be rolled out to more areas around Botswana in the near future.
BoFiNet, an organisation wholly owned by the government of Botswana, has been mandated to develop and manage strategic Information and Communications Technology network within Botswana as well as the international terrestrial links from Botswana to the rest of the world.
BoFiNet manages these networks in order to create open access wholesale capability, serving the telecommunication industry in Botswana and abroad. The intent is to drive the vision of Botswana by promoting a digital environment.
