Today, the leading insurer, Botswana Insurance Company (BIC) continued to show its support for the growth and development of local sports by sponsoring local premier league football side, Security Systems XI FC with a whopping P1,750, 000,00, spread over five seasons. This means, every football season the club will have an injection of P350, 000. 00

Early this year, BIC sponsored the BFL outfit with P300 000 and the contract will be elapsing this coming December.

“The Security Systems XI FC displayed a brave and exciting play in the previous season. As the BIC team, we were excited by the way Security Systems XI FC exhibited their act, therefore we realized that for the team to perform better it needed consistent support that would also motivate the soccer players which is why we have decided to extend the sponsorship with another P1,750, 000,00,” said BIC CEO Newton Jazire.

The extension of this sponsorship means that Security Systems XI FC will be receiving P350,000,00 from BIC every season for the next five years. This relationship sponsorship came to life after the football team approached BIC seeking assistance from the insurance company. BIC did not hesitate to be involved and work closely with the premier soccer league outfit.

“Apart from this extension of the sponsorship we want to be actively involved in the development of these football players and the next generation of soccer players across the country that will represent us in regional and international tournaments such as the AFCON and World Cup. As the league will be commencing soon, we are looking forward to seeing some interesting football from Security Systems FC XI, we have attended some of the training sessions. We have seen the hunger to win that the players possess. They have promised to bring some silverware in this upcoming season”.

In conclusion, the BIC CEO urged other corporate companies to be actively involved in the development and support of local football to have an appealing premier soccer league that will be the foundation of a strong national team squad.

Despite finishing in 6th position last season, Security Systems FC XI was one of the competitive teams that made the local football scene to be more exciting.

Upon the renewal of the sponsorship Security Systems’ Managing Director, Gabriel Nkgetse expressed his gratitude towards BIC stating the extension of this sponsorship clearly states that BIC is passionate about sports development in Botswana and as the beneficiaries, the football team has to work extra hard this coming season and beyond to prove that they indeed deserve this support.
