Absa Bank Botswana has proudly reaffirmed its deep and enduring commitment to preserving Botswana’s rich cultural heritage through the renewal of its title sponsorship of the annual Absa Dithubaruba Cultural Festival, scheduled to take place on 5 September 2026 in Molepolole.
The partnership renewal was officially launched between Absa Bank Botswana and the Dithubaruba Trust, representing a total investment of P1.5 million over a three-year period. The sponsorship will support the continued growth and sustainability of one of Botswana’s most significant cultural celebrations, ensuring that the festival remains a vibrant platform for showcasing Botswana’s traditions, customs, and heritage.
The partnership underscores Absa’s brand purpose of “Empowering Africa’s tomorrow, together… one story at a time” by directly contributing to cultural preservation, community development and nation-building through the promotion of heritage, unity, and economic inclusion.

Speaking at the launch, Dennis Mambure, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Absa Bank Botswana, said, “Our partnership with the Dithubaruba Cultural Festival aligns strongly with our citizenship and sustainability strategy.
This initiative is far more than financial support; it represents our active participation in preserving Botswana’s cultural heritage while empowering local communities. Arts and culture provide powerful narratives that form the fabric of our nation, with significant potential to boost tourism, stimulate local economic growth and strengthen social cohesion.”

As part of the partnership, Absa Bank Botswana will also use the festival as a platform to advance financial literacy and financial inclusion. Festival attendees will have access to educational programmes designed to promote sound financial management practices, while entrepreneurs and small business owners will be empowered with practical tools, insights, and solutions such as Absa Mobitap to help grow and sustain their enterprises.
Reflecting on the festival’s impact on communities, Mambure added: “Witnessing the growth of small enterprises and the vibrant celebration of our traditions has been incredibly rewarding. The Dithubaruba Cultural Festival has become a powerful platform for economic inclusion, enabling Batswana to create sustainable livelihoods rooted in their cultural identity. Our commitment extends beyond this three-year sponsorship; it is a lasting promise to support initiatives that empower communities and safeguard our shared heritage for generations to come.”
The festival continues to serve as an important platform that brings together communities, businesses, traditional leadership and visitors from across Botswana and beyond. By bridging culture, commerce, and regional participation, the Absa Dithubaruba Cultural Festival stands out as both a celebration of heritage and a catalyst for inclusive economic growth and national development.
