The latest Big Brother Naija double eviction was one for the ages: after an intense emotional history in the house, Victory and Gigi Jasmine are both out of the game. Following their eviction, 22 housemates remain in the running for the N150-million grand prize.
As the unmatched Ebuka Obi-Uchendu said about the two frenemies leaving the show at the same time, “it’s about to be a very interesting media round”.
Upon his exit, Victory had little to say in response to questions from host Ebuka – probably because he was processing what had just happened. When asked if he saw his eviction coming, Victory simply said: “No, no, no” before saying the highlight of his month in the house was “the chaos and all”.
Ebuka pointed out that Victory played a role in a lot of said chaos, asking him if that had been part of his gameplan, which Victory denied: “It’s not strategy, it’s just who I am.”Victory said now that he was out of the house, he was looking forward to going back to farming.
Gigi Jasmine was also taken aback at her game being cut short, with Ebuka asking if the eviction came as a shock. “Itkind of did, in all honesty,” she replied. “I felt like I gave it my all. But I’m very happy ‘cause now all of Nigeria and Africa has seen what I can offer.”
While Victory had refused to even mention Gigi by name during his live post-eviction interview, Gigi didn’t shy away from speaking about him, simply saying “he wasn’t a nice person” in her books. When asked if she was ever concerned about the audience’s perception of her, Gigi Jasmine only said: “If you can’t handle me, then why are you watching?”
Mensan was voted the Most Influential Player of the Week by his fellow housemates – the announcement made him emotional, reducing him to tears. Earlier in the week, the housemates continued their winning streak when it came to the wager, with this week’s theme being Nostalgia (inspired by all things Nollywood and Africa Magic).
Winning the Head of House (HoH) challenge was Doris, but her reign was short-lived as she lost the title to Zita the following day. When Ebuka asked Zita what she meant when she told Rooboy that men who audition for Big Brother give her the ick, she said her comments were taken “out of context”, before admitting that the now-evicted Danboskid auditioning for BBNaija didn’t stop her from developing a connection with him.

Denari was asked about his comments regarding Kuturewhen he said Kuture “talks too much and lies a lot”. This was Denari’s explanation to Ebuka: “I compared him with Mensan. I said you could tell Mensan something and you wouldn’t hear it anywhere. But Kuture is loud – you couldtell him something and hear it somewhere.” Ouch.
To quote Ebuka: “This past week was packed with high emotions, face-to-face confrontations and back-to-back battles. And we’re just getting started.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. We’re nearly halfway through the game – so what does the most exciting show on television have in store for us this week? There’s only one way to know for sure – keep tuning in.
