I recently joined other media personalities and influencers alike for a conspicuous weekend staycation at the prestigious Hilton Garden Inn Gaborone. Located in the middle of the busy Central Business District (CBD) – the city’s most sought after business centric mile, the facility has broadly taken the demands of the CBD by the scruff of the neck.
Conceptualized on business, residential, conferencing and restaurant – this offers a one stop for a person doing business parallel with leisure conveniently.
Arriving on a Friday 15 November at the back of a dull afternoon after the hopes of seeing Zebras qualify for the African’s biggest football showpiece Africa Cup of Nations were deemed, or at least we will have to wait longer to see the national football team qualify on the hone soil. Football aside though!
Thus, the staycation was characterised with an inner voice saying, “eat, hydrate, network” and probably talk bread and butter issues – politics, football and bachelorhood. Sometimes we have to chill and reenergize as colleagues, acquaintances and make new friends. This place breathe a fresher air.
With the facility just above five years since it opened its doors to their customers, it was intriguing to come back again and see how they have turned the wheel. Arriving to the hospitality energy of one Lebogang Moitoi along her team- her broad smile symbolized, “Welcome home”. I was indeed home away from my cabin for a weekend.
Friday Sundowner with the facility beverage partners
The Friday night by the pool area brought different alcoholic beverages partnering with the facility and how they can be paired with different alcohol beverages to give their customers a wide range of taste for their preferences. The perks of being an international brand is attracting the same forth. In his remarks SMC’s Gerald Maje narrated the importance of his range and great collaboration with Hilton Garden Inn Gaborone.
Saturday Check-in and becoming Honors member
It was such a smooth sailing experience. Although manually to officially be a digital app subscriber, the app allows me to be able to check in where ever in the world where there is a property of the latter without even checking the physical personnel at the front desk. A digital key though a mobile device is convenience, no more stories like because you had put your card with metal keys and other therefore your card has reprogrammed. Hilton is leading the pack.
of karaoke night featuring yours truly on the mic
I have really chosen well in life, deciding not to sing for a living is amongst crucial decision i carried. Embarrassingly so, one of our colleagues Sharon Mathala of Mmegi wanted to extra spice the night and hosted a karaoke night. Believe you me, it always looks easy until the microphone is on – Robert Kelly’s Storm is Over indeed put it over over. The most laughter in the room was when I was on stage – normally it should be a sing along if you are moving your crowd. in terms of position I won as the the worst.
Congratulations to Gosego Motsumi of Botswana Gazette who has recently been bagging awards internationally – she is on a winning streak. Another winner, Tlhabo Kgosiemang of News25 Online as a best content creator of staycation – among his wins includes Electronic Charge of a year at the facility. With the world moving to electronic vehicles, the facility is amongst the first to have the charging point brining convenience to their customers.
I will still come for a dinner for two under the stars at the facility restaurant at a time of my choice, I am still recovering the embarrassment of the stage frights and everything in between. Thanks to the rules that no filming of the night.
Mimosa brunch
Courtesy of been the honours member with the facility, my check-out was extended to midday – thus opportune to have brunch whilst having banter with our hosts and media colleagues. Extended check out are specifically placed to allow convenience for customers to align with their next destination or meeting. Bubbles were a signature to end a splendid weekend we had – a hectic weekend. One thing that stood out with the chef and restaurant, is that the menu is designed to cater for a group.
