The keynote speaker at this year’s Botswana consumer Fair Awards, Stanbic Bank Botswana CEO Chose Modise has acknowledged that Botswana is slowly moving towards a post pandemic reality. Speaking at the awards night in Gaborone on Thursday 1st September 2022, Modise said it is fantastic to see such important occasions as this be hosted once more.
“The Consumer fair holds a special place in the heart and minds of many, an outing, even from when we were in our youth, and a truly important platform for the business community. I would like to thank the Fairground Holdings CEO, Mrs. Gabaraane, and the team for inviting me on behalf of Stanbic Bank Botswana to officiate at this significant occasion”
The Botswana Consumer Fair has grown in leaps and bounds over the years, and remains the largest networking event in Botswana with over 500 exhibitors and 29 exhibition categories. The flavourful additions of this year’s Fair demonstrated of growth and a “revengeful” come back after a 2-year lull.
As reflected on the theme, the Botswana Consumer Fair is ‘More Than Just Shopping’. It is an all-inclusive experience to interact, network, and entertain.
In contrast to traditional means of marketing and advertising, the Consumer Fair enables exhibitors to advertise their products and show off their features and unique selling points face-to-face allowing for potential clients maximum understanding and top-of-mind awareness.
“Crucially, this platform also has a strong role to play in the diversification drive of the economy as a solid platform for SMMEs and large enterprises to engage and develop lasting business networks. The success of this Fair is evidenced through the repeat participation that it has been recorded on an annual basis, including from businesses and brands we have since seen go on to take the global market.
Additionally, the Fair offers local and international exhibitors a chance to create long-term commercial partnerships as well as strategic collaborations. All of this is done to offer opportunities to diversify our economy and offer opportunities for exports.
Our country has made such momentous strides since we first gained independence in 1966 to rise from humble beginnings to the proverbial powerhouse we are today. Business and industry booms, entrepreneurs are growing and thriving, and even in the toughest of circumstances, we collectively rise to the challenge of growing further together
This event showcases Batswana’s ability to produce and manufacture products in different value chains as well as for service providers to showcase and share information on their products and services”
With the presence of local, regional, and international exhibitors representing many countries, we are exposed to creations, and ways of doing business from all over the world that can aid our journey to diversify the economy and drive sustainable growth. The level of participation of business at this year’s consumer Fair highlights the commitment of the business community to redeem themselves after a fateful Covid19 era.
So today we have come together to celebrate the exhibitors, and also celebrate dreams that have been made possible, and many more possibilities that have been unlocked by Fairground Holdings over the years.
