The Botswana Sovereign Wealth Fund Limited (BSWFL) has announced the appointment of Moemedi Malindah as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 January 2026. Malindah brings over 23 years of diverse executive experience, spanning investment management, infrastructure development, regulatory oversight, mining, and corporate governance.
He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Botswana Public Officers’ Pension Fund (BPOPF) from 2020 to 2025, where he led the largest capital allocator in Botswana and one of the top ten on the African continent. Under his leadership, BPOPF’s assets grew from approximately BWP 67 billion in 2020 to BWP 128 billion, driven by disciplined capital deployment, a refined investment strategy, and strong organisational performance.
Prior to his CEO role, Mr. Malindah was Head of Investment at BPOPF from 2012 to 2020, where he achieved 96% portfolio growth and a 10.1% annualised return, placing the Fund’s performance in the top quartile globally. His earlier contributions include leading the development of investment policies that shaped Botswana’s institutional investment landscape, co-founding the Botswana Bond Market Association, and supporting the establishment of the Capital Markets Department at NBFIRA.

Malindah’s credentials include a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A), a Bachelor of Engineering, completion of CFA Level I, and professional membership in the Global Association of Risk Professionals. He currently serves as Chairman of DECI I vestment and sits on the boards of Mascom Pty Ltd and Bona Life Pty Ltd, bringing extensive governance and risk oversight experience to his new role. As CEO, Malindah will lead BSWFL through its critical establishment phase, ensuring the Fund is built on a strong governance framework, disciplined investment approach, and operational excellence.
He will drive the long-term investment strategy, accelerate value creation across the portfolio, institutionalise best-practice governance structures, and embed resilience throughout the organisation in line with Botswana’s national development priorities.
