Access Bank Botswana has announced the official launch of its Custody Services offering, underpinned by the successful deployment of its new digital custody platform. This milestone marks the expansion of the Bank’s Corporate & Investment Banking capabilities and the introduction of a new business vertical focused on financial asset safekeeping and management.
Custody Services are designed to provide institutional clients, including pension funds, asset managers, insurance firms and corporates with secure, transparent and efficient safekeeping of financial assets such as shares, bonds and other marketable securities. Through custody platform, clients benefit from real-time settlement, automated corporate actions, enhanced reporting and a scalable infrastructure built for long-term growth and regulatory compliance.
Commenting on the launch, Monica Matale, Head of Custody Services, said, “This is a significant moment for Access Bank Botswana and the broader investment landscape. With custody platform, we are offering a modern solution that goes beyond safekeeping. Clients now have access to real-time data, greater transparency and streamlined operations. This service is built to global standards and positions us to serve both domestic and international investors with efficiency and trust.”
The development of Custody Services aligns with Access Bank’s strategy to diversify its product suite, strengthen its position in the capital markets and provide best-in-class solutions to its growing client base. The initiative was driven by a long-term vision to meet the evolving needs of institutional investors and to support the deepening of Botswana’s financial markets.
Sheperd Aisam, Managing Director of Access Bank Botswana, highlighted the strategic significance of the new offering: “The launch of Custody Services signals our ambition to play a more integral role in Botswana’s investment ecosystem. Institutional clients demand confidence, efficiency and compliance. With custody platform, we are delivering on all fronts. It gives our clients the peace of mind that their assets are not only protected but also expertly managed with full visibility and control.”
Access Bank Botswana now joins a select group of financial institutions licensed by the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) to offer custody services. The Bank’s entry into this space introduces new levels of innovation, security, and service excellence to a critical segment of the market.
With the custody platform now fully operational, Access Bank Botswana is actively engaging with clients and stakeholders across the investment community to onboard and deliver tailored custody solutions that support long-term financial success.
