Protea Hotel by Marriott at Masa Square, one of Gaborone’s premier business and luxury travel destinations, has officially unveiled its newly refurbished conferencing facilities, marking the first phase of a broader, ambitious renovation of the entire property.

Strategically located in Gaborone’s bustling Central Business District, the hotel holds the distinction of being the first hospitality establishment developed within this key commercial hub. Over the years, it has become a cornerstone for corporate travel, high-level convenings, and regional engagement.

The upgraded conferencing facilities introduce enhanced meeting spaces designed to meet the evolving needs of corporate clients, government institutions, and regional convenings. The refurbishment integrates contemporary design, upgraded technology infrastructure, and flexible spatial configurations, further positioning the hotel as a leading hub for business and dialogue in Botswana.

The development forms part of a wider strategic investment by RDC Properties, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining world-class commercial and hospitality assets within its portfolio.

Andrew Kamanga, Chief Operations Officer of Protea Hotel by Marriott at Masa Square, said:

“This refurbishment reflects our continued commitment to delivering a world-class experience for our guests. As a business and luxury travel destination at the heart of Gaborone’s CBD, it is essential that our facilities evolve in line with the expectations of modern travellers and corporate clients. The conferencing upgrade is a critical first step in a broader vision to reimagine the entire hotel, enhancing both functionality and guest experience while maintaining the high standards associated with the Protea by Marriott brand.”

Further phases of the redevelopment will include upgrades to guest rooms, public areas, and hospitality offerings, delivering a cohesive, modernised environment aligned with international hospitality standards.

As Gaborone continues to position itself as a regional business hub, the transformation of Protea Hotel by Marriott at Masa Square is expected to play a pivotal role in supporting business tourism, investment activity, and high-level engagement in Botswana.
