The kiddies favourite marathon dubbed Absa Summer Kids Marathon will on the 1 March 2025 host its 5th activation for its 4th annual activity at the Power Station, next to Kwa Ncinci in Maun for free. The marathon which is hosted in Gaborone has this year started a country tour of activations to give all the kids around the country a glimpse of their main marathon.
In an interview this week in Maun, event coordinator Moagi Madisa said the preparations for the Maun activation are advancing very well and appeals to the parents and guardians to bring their kids to the activation.
“We are very happy to be coming to Maun to bring the Absa Summer Kids Marathon, this is an opportune time for the Maun and surrounding areas to bring their children. Based on previous destinations, this is becoming a competition on which destination had more children. As a non-competitive event for kids, we value every participant because this is where we nurture them from a younger age. We are targeting every kid free of charge from ages of 2-16”.

Quizzed on how the activation has been structured, Madisa said the event starts from 7am with a warm up session leading to aerobics and zumba before jogging a 2.5km in an escorted manner. He further said they are partnering with some of the business community in Maun to bring excitement to the kids.
“Maun as a tourism hub can be an educational activation for the kids, we thus are talking to different tourism entities to join us and set up at the event to teach and career guide these kids. We are about philanthropy and healthy lifestyle but for Maun its a very special case, we are partnering with different entities to bring fun, there will be snacks and hydration to keep them energised”
Meanwhile from Maun, activations will cover other places such as Letlhakane, Francistown and Jwaneng before the main event in Gaborone on 26 April 2025.
So far, among those who have partnered with the activation include Kwa Ga Ncinci, Ngami Times and GS Health and Fitness with more companies expected to join.
