Today, the Botswana Softball Masters Association (BOSMA) has announced the highly anticipated Orapa challenge taking place in Orapa from 29 -31 May 2025 under the theme ‘’LEGENDS ON THE DIAMOND FIELD, FUN FIRST, VICTORY LAST’’. The challenge will feature exciting lineup of 9 teams from Botswana, 6 teams from South Africa and 1 team from Lesotho respectively.
The competition will follow a seeded round robin format, hosted across four premier softball grounds; Duck ‘N Scrum, Itekeng,Rebels and Carats. Spectators can expect top-tier performances from veteran players, bringing back the flair, experience, and passion of softball to the diamond.
Speaking after the official draw conducted last week in Gaborone, Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Chairperson Tsuna Makwa expressed confidence in the preparations and emphasized the significance of the event. She urged supporters to arrange their permits on time so they can enjoy the games without delay.
“This is is a mouth-watering draw for all participating teams. We’re grateful to all the clubs taking part in this prestigious Masters challenge. As alluded to by our theme, the tournament is not just about competition — it’s about sharing passion and passing on the experience to the next generation. We encourage fans to support the Masters and local teams by coming in numbers’’ said Makwa.

When quizzed about the preparations, she is confident that everything has run smoothly towards the games. She said all the teams are expected to arrive in Orapa on Wednesday for accreditations and teams goodies collections ahead of the extravaganza from Thursday morning.
“Our preparations are on track. All stakeholders have been briefed, and a dedicated Local Organising Committee and its sub committees have worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth and successful tournament. Umpires are ready, and the grounds are well-prepared. We’re also honored to expect guests from both Government and our hosts, Debswana Diamond Company.
Botswana will be represented by Diamonds, Diphala, Freesouls, Golden Divas, KDK, Saints, Orapa Masters, So’ball Dads and Steelers. South Africa will field six competitive sides: Best Batters, Ma-Young, Moletlane Texas, Olympia Royals, Flames and North Underdogs. Lesotho will be represented by a single team, Kings, and pinning their hopes to win this prestigious tournament.
