The first live action on ESPN arrives on the morning of Friday 27 December, as the Milwaukee Bucks host the Brooklyn Nets in NBA regular season action (03:00 LIVE on ESPN).
Bucks coach Doc Rivers has highlighted the importance of Giannis Antetokounmpo to his team: “He’s doing it every night, making the right plays, he really is,” said the Bucks boss.
“He’s been amazing. He’s scoring, but more importantly, he’s getting everybody involved. It’s so difficult to hold off a passer that can score. The way Giannis is passing, you’ve got to pick your poison.
“We have so much shooting [ability] on the floor, it really helps him. This is the best stretch by far with me, because he’s not just scoring, it’s everything. He’s just doing a lot of stuff for us, and he’s doing it in the flow.”
Most European football shuts down for the festive season, but England keeps going hard, with the EFL Championship presenting a trio of matches on Sunday 29 December, as Norwich City host Queens Park Rangers (14:30 LIVE on ESPN), Cardiff City travel to face Watford (17:00 LIVE on ESPN), and Derby County welcome Leeds United to Pride Park (19:45 LIVE on ESPN). Sunday also features an evening NBA clash, with the Orlando Magic hosting the Brooklyn Nets (22:30 LIVE on ESPN).
More Championship football arrives on New Year’s Day, Wednesday 1 January, with Plymouth Argyle v Bristol City, Portsmouth v Swansea City and Sunderland v Sheffield United (14:30, 17:00 and 22:00 LIVE on ESPN), while Thursday is headlined by the latest edition of the ‘Old Firm Derby’ between Scottish Premiership rivals Rangers and Celtic (17:00 LIVE on ESPN).

Saturday 28 December is headlined by action from the NBA, with the Phoenix Suns hosting the Dallas Mavericks (04:00 LIVE on ESPN 2), and the Miami Heat visiting the Atlanta Hawks (22:00 LIVE on ESPN 2).
Sunday opens in the late afternoon with a Scottish Premiership clash between Celtic and St Johnstone (17:00 LIVE on ESPN 2), before the NFL takes centre stage. First up is a clash between midwestern rivals the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers (20:00 LIVE on ESPN 2), before the Dallas Cowboys head to Pennsylvania for a battle with the Philadelphia Eagles (23:25 LIVE on ESPN 2).
More NFL arrives on the mornings of Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 December, with the Clevelands Browns facing the Miami Dolphins (03:20 LIVE on ESPN 2) and the Detroit Lions visiting the San Francisco 49ers (03:15 LIVE on ESPN 2) respectively.
San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan wants to see his team dial in the important details over the remainder of the season: “Our offence can’t turn the ball over along with our special teams… and when you do turn it over, you better make sure you’re getting some [turnovers back], or it’s going to look bad.”
