Botswana’s sprint sensation and 200m Olympic gold medalist Letsile Tebogo made a surprise appearance at the English Premier league match at Stanford Bridge stadium in London where he watched his boyhood club club Chelsea against Southampton on Tuesday night.
Letsile was subsequently presented with jersey 80, a tribute to his dearly departed mother who was born in 1980.
The club who form has been lukewarm this season saw an impressive 4 nil thrashing to the visiting Southampton.
Quick to realize Letsile attendance was Chelsea issuing statement, “Great to have you with us today, Letsile Tebogo!”
Meanwhile Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca on his post match interview said, “It was very important because we know from now on every game is important. We are happy to get three points, knowing that if we get three points then we will be up there [in the table] but if we don’t win then we will drop a little bit so it is about how we manage our emotions until the end.
‘For sure, we were happy with the performance but we were happy at Villa because the performance was very good but we just didn’t win. But tonight we are very happy.’
Furthermore, Botswana star boy Letsile is in Europe at the invitation of Nike as one of the ambassadors. This week Nike launched Pegasus Premium joined by renowned athletes such as Mo Farah, Letsile among others.
