Agilitee, Africa’s pioneering electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer and greentech company, has signed a groundbreaking agreement with Guangzhou Thunder International Investment Co., Ltd. This partnership promises to transform the lives of thousands of Africans, providing them with a unique opportunity to own electric scooters and participate in a lucrative delivery program.
The deal, facilitated by a recent visit to China by an Agilitee delegation, will see Guangzhou Thunder supply 40,000 scooters to South Africa over four years, with the option to provide more to other African countries where Agilitee operates. This initiative is expected to benefit countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Ghana, and Lesotho.
Agilitee’s innovative delivery program, launched in partnership with its sister company Emergen8, allows individuals to be employed and own the scooters and the scooters work for them wherever the scooters work. The program has already provided a vital source of income for many unemployed individuals and supplementary income for those already employed.

Founder and CEO of Agilitee, Dr. Mandla Lamba, expressed his gratitude to Guangzhou Thunder for their support, stating, “We needed a partner who understands the challenges faced by our people, including hyperinflation and limited job opportunities. This partnership will enable Africans to own scooters and generate income without requiring significant upfront capital.”
The agreement also includes the establishment of Explore Group Africa, a joint venture between Agilitee and Guangzhou Thunder, which will manufacture and assemble scooters in South Africa for the African market. Agilitee will hold a 35% minority interest in the venture, with Guangzhou Thunder owning the remaining 65%.
This landmark deal is expected to create manufacturing jobs in South Africa and further cement Agilitee’s position as a leader in Africa’s EV market. Despite facing numerous challenges, including racial bias attacks, Agilitee has demonstrated remarkable resilience and tenacity, with its revenue increasing by 860% this financial year.
As Agilitee continues to inspire Africa, its commitment to empowering communities and promoting sustainable transportation solutions is set to leave a lasting impact on the continent.
