The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa will premiere exclusively on Showmax and it will also air on Mzansi Magic from 6 December 2025.

This brand-new season brings together some of the continent’s most iconic Housewives for the ultimate girl’s trip, this time set against the colorful backdrop of Brazil. Expect a perfect blend of glamour, sisterhood, romance, luxury and drama as these larger-than-life personalities unite for a once-in-a-lifetime experience filled with unforgettable moments.

Produced by GOAT, The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa features an all-star lineup of Housewives from across the continent, including The Real Housewives of Durban Annie Mthembu, Angel Ndlela and Jojo Robinson; The Real Housewives of Johannesburg OGs Madam Evodia Mogase and Christall Kay; Nairobi’s Dr Catherine Masitsa and Zena Nyambu; and Nigeria’s Princess Jecoco from Abuja and Mariam Timmer from Lagos.

We recently sat down with Evodia, one of the OGs from The Real Housewives of Johannesburg, the first Housewives franchise in Africa. She opened up about her big return to reality TV, how the scene has changed and more.

What inspired your return to reality television and why now?

I wanted an opportunity to reconnect with my viewers that I love so much and definitely travel to Brazil, it’s very beautiful and I got to meet some of the ladies I admire and respect from the African franchises. Why not now? There’s never a better time; some opportunities come at the right time.

How would you describe the experience of being back in front of the cameras for this new chapter?

Honestly, it was absolutely wonderful and brought back some great memories of the past. It felt like home, and the incredible team was able to capture more than just my glamour but also my resilience, my laughter and all the moments people hardly get to see of me.

Since your debut on the first season of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg, how has your life or outlook evolved?

I think as people we are constantly evolving, regardless of my experience on the show. What I realized after the show was how I had inspired a lot of women from all walks of life, and that came with a lot of popularity that generally comes with being on TV.

Did any unexpected friendships form during filming and if so, who surprised you the most?

I was able to bond with the incredible ladies, but due to very limited time I wasn’t able to bond and connect with them on a deeper level. Our days were filled with shooting and activities to experience a new, authentic friendship.

As the original breakout star of the African Housewives franchise, how do you feel about the women who’ve carried the torch after you?

Shuu, it’s a really tough one because there are so many ladies who have come since then. I truly believe they are good in their own right; however, I do tend to also see a lot of pretenses and a lot of ladies acting versus being who they really are.

Do you feel the women brought their true selves to the show, or were some being fake?

I would say 70% of the ladies were too unrealistic, they were ganging up as one and I didn’t fully get the opportunity to see the real them.

You and Christall shared quite the history. What was it like, reconnecting after all these years?

Christall and I have a lot of history, and I would urge everyone to watch because they will be surprised. Over the years, a lot has changed so make sure you don’t miss even one episode.

Why should people watch?

People should watch because it is entertaining, there is so much happening under one roof, and the viewers will love that. There is laughter, drama, bonding, explosive moments and crying all wrapped in fabulousness. It’s women celebrating their differences and learning from each other. It’s not just a trip, it’s an experience of power and, darling, when Madam travels, the world watches. Madam will never disappoint you!

What era is Madam in right now?

I am in a new fabulous era where I own my truth, unapologetically so. It’s not about luxury or drama, it’s about being authentic, creating an impact, having influence and confidence.
