§ Orange Foundation Celebrates Arts, Music and Culture Through Artist Empowerment
In a commitment to championing the transformative potential of music and arts for socio-economic progress, Orange Botswana, through the Orange Foundation, proudly announces its collaboration and sponsorship of Alliance Française’s Fête de la Musique (World Music Day). The music festival, featuring a diverse line-up of Batswana and international artists, is set to captivate audiences at the Alliance Française offices in Gaborone on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023.
Through this distinguished corporate sponsorship program, Orange Foundation consistently showcases unwavering dedication to propelling the professional growth of young artists while playing a pivotal role in fostering social inclusion on a grand scale.
Said Orange Botswana CSR Coordinator, Goitseone Seven, “The Fête de la Musique brings us the gift of harmony, rhythm, and the universal language that is music. It is a day that transcends boundaries and unites us all through the powerful melodies that flow from instruments and voices alike. This annual celebration reminds us that in music, we find a common ground where our hearts can beat as one, regardless of our backgrounds. At the Orange Foundation, we hold a profound belief in the transformative power of music and the arts. It is this belief that drives our unwavering support for initiatives that nurture the creative spirit of young artists across Africa. Our Corporate Sponsorship Programme provides a platform for festival organisers and music ensembles to present their projects, granting them the chance to showcase their talents on a larger scale.”
The Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) originated in 1982 when the French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, and the director of music and dance, Maurice Fleuret, recognized that a significant portion of the French population played musical instruments, yet musical events were primarily organized for a minority. As a result, Fête de la Musique was conceived to provide a platform for a broader population of musicians to express themselves and gain recognition. The inaugural Fête de la Musique was celebrated in Paris in 1982, and since then, the festival has grown into an international phenomenon, observed simultaneously on the same day in over 700 cities across 120 countries, including Gaborone.
“It brings us great pleasure to share with you that the Alliance Française has been chosen as one of the fortunate recipients of support from the Orange Foundation. The esteemed Fête de la Musique, an annual event orchestrated by the Alliance Française, has been granted a sponsorship of 2,500.00 Euros, which translates to slightly over P36,000 (Thirty-Six Thousand Pula) by the Orange Foundation. This support signifies our commitment to fostering cultural enrichment and community engagement, and we look forward to a harmonious collaboration with the Alliance Française.” concluded Seven.
This collaboration between Orange Foundation and Alliance Française stands as an embodiment of the universal language of music and its power to unite, inspire, and foster positive change. As Fête de la Musique approaches, Orange Foundation and Alliance Française extend a cordial invitation to all to partake in this celebration of creativity, diversity, and the unifying essence of music.
