Since its October 2025 debut, The Sanctuary at Wilderness Mombo, has enriched Wilderness’ flagship camp with a new dimension of immersive luxury. Combining holistic therapies, innovative design and a deep connection to the natural rhythms of the Delta, The Sanctuary offers guests an immersive and restorative experience within one of the world’s most celebrated wilderness areas.

“Mombo has always set the benchmark for the African safari, and with this launch we mark another milestone in its evolution. The Sanctuary reinforces our dedication to offering journeys that truly nurture mind, body and soul – amplifying the natural sense of wellness that the wilderness already inspires”, said Alexandra Margull, Wilderness Chief Operating Officer.

Set within one of Africa’s most remarkable ecosystems, Wilderness Mombo stands as the natural stage for this latest addition. Created to inspire stillness and reconnection, the space flows into its surroundings through organic forms, natural timber and open-air areas that evoke calm and groundedness. Here, every element has been considered to restore harmony, from sweeping views across the Delta to the soothing interplay of light, sound and texture.

Guests are invited to embark on an immersive journey of renewal, with world-class facilities that balance energy and rest. These include a lap pool for exercise and reflection, a traditional sauna paired with an ice bath for hot-cold contrast therapy, dedicated treatment rooms as well as a couple’s suite, meditation cocoons, an air-conditioned gym with panoramic vistas and an open-air yoga deck. A deli and juice bar complement the offering.

TheraNaka amenities, enriched with responsibly sourced indigenous botanicals, blend scent, sound, and touch to create deeply restorative journeys, drawing on traditional African wellness rituals and sustainable practices. Esse, a pioneer in microbiome-focused biotechnology skincare, offers facials designed to rebalance the skin for lasting radiance. Signature experiences – such as the African Fusion Body Massage with marula-herb oils, Tree of Life Journey, inspired by the mystical energy of the baobab, and Couples Connect, an African treatment for strength and renewal using handcrafted wooden implements – bring layers of cultural significance and multi-sensory immersion to every spa visit.

Thoughtfully designed with a light footprint and deep reverence for its natural surroundings, The Sanctuary invites guests into an experience that nurtures both body and spirit, while remaining in harmony with the environment that inspires it.

Further enriching the sensory offering, a specially commissioned album by sound composer Mikhaela Faye adds a powerful auditory layer.Titled Sanctum, this original soundscape was recorded on-site, capturing the authentic rhythms and atmosphere of the camp. Each track blends ambient field recordings – from a lion’s throaty roar and the clash of elephant tusks, to the delicate symphony of weaver birds, the haunting cry of a fish eagle, and the rhythmic songs and drums from the boma. The result is an acoustic offering that surrounds guests with the soul of the Delta and evokes the spirit of place. Designed to soothe, ground and transport, Sanctum invites a powerful connection to the land – one that lingers long after departure.

The Sanctuary at Wilderness Mombo reflects the brand’s commitment to a wellness journey that is intimately connected to nature. While every detail is carefully considered to support guests’ wellbeing, the Sanctuary also honours the unique spirit of Mombo – The Place of Plenty – where transformative journeys unfold in one of Africa’s most awe-inspiring and wildlife-rich settings.
