Stanbic Bank Botswana has reinforced its role as a catalyst for Botswana’s industrial transformation through active participation in the Local Manufacturing Summit 2025, held today at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).
Now in its second year of partnership with the Summit, the Bank once again took a leading position in shaping critical conversations on the future of Botswana’s manufacturing sector.
The Summit, themed “Accelerating Action: Building Competitive and Sustainable Manufacturing for Botswana’s Future,” brought together leaders from government, private sector, financial institutions, academia, and entrepreneurship. Discussions focused on scaling local industry, unlocking AfCFTA opportunities, driving sustainability, and building resilient value chains.
Speaking at the Summit, Lebea Sephuma, Acting Chief Executive at Stanbic Bank Botswana, highlighted the Bank’s strategic role in enabling manufacturing growth: “Manufacturing is central to Botswana’s economic transformation. Stanbic Bank Botswana is committed to walking alongside local businesses through innovative financing solutions, strategic partnerships, and platforms such as the Accelerate Incubator and our Citizen Economic Empowerment Programme (CEEP). These initiatives are designed to help entrepreneurs grow sustainable enterprises that create jobs and position Botswana as a competitive force within the region.”
The Summit featured keynote addresses, interactive panels, and technical workshops addressing industrial financing, technology adoption, sustainability, and the importance of public–private partnerships in building a strong manufacturing base.
In his closing remarks, Lebea Sephuma, Acting Chief Executive at Stanbic Bank Botswana, reiterated the Bank’s long-term commitment to advancing Botswana’s development agenda: “The conversations here have highlighted the urgency of action. Stanbic Bank Botswana is dedicated to working with the government and industry partners to unlock growth, empower citizen-owned enterprises, and build industries that anchor Botswana’s competitiveness and long-term self-reliance.”
The Local Manufacturing Summit has grown into one of Botswana’s foremost industrial platforms, promoting collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and forward-looking solutions. The 2025 edition underscored the importance of competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability in accelerating Botswana’s manufacturing drive.
