Botswana Air Access has welcomed the announcement by South African Airways (SAA) of a new double daily non-stop service connecting Johannesburg to Gaborone, set to launch on 04 November 2025. This new route marks a significant milestone in advancing our country’s regional connectivity and strengthening the aviation and economic ties between Botswana and South Africa.
Johannesburg is Botswana’s largest international market based on two-way international OD (origin-destination) passengers, with an estimated 270 000 travellers in 2024 – an increase of 7% compared to 2023. The launch of this new SAA service will further support and expand this crucial corridor, benefiting both countries economically and logistically.

Reliable, direct air connections between our two capital cities are essential to unlocking economic potential and creating new opportunities for both of our countries.
