Gaborone, Botswana – The University of Botswana has bestowed the UB Walk of Fame honour on His Excellency the President of the Republic of Botswana, Dr. Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi, and His Honour the Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane. They were bestowed at the University of Botswana on May 5, 2023.

The honour is bestowed on distinguished and notable alumni who continue to make strides and impact in society. The President and the Vice President are the first recipients of this mark of recognition which the University looks to continue awarding to deserving alumni. For the University of Botswana to have produced the President and Vice President is a testament to its credibility and academic quality. UB continues to produce well-grounded graduates.

UB Vice Chancellor Prof Norris

“It is with great pride that we bestow the UB Walk of Fame on the President and the Vice President respectively, in recognition of their leadership in advancing the country to a knowledge economy. The University of Botswana’s mission is to improve economic and social conditions of Batswana through impactful research by producing graduates who continue to shape industries and societies. There can be no better example than the leadership of our great nation, paving the way for many notable alumni,” said the University of Botswana Vice Chancellor, Professor David Norris.

His Excellency Dr. Masisi graduated from UB in 1984 while His Honour Mr Tsogwane graduated in 1985. Both are actively involved in the University of Botswana Foundation and alumni efforts, continuously demonstrating that the University’s graduates indeed go to lengths to achieve remarkable success in the vocational world as well as the socio-economic fabric of not only Botswana but beyond.
