As part of FNB Botswana’s celebration of 35 Years of Help, the FNBB Foundation has launched Thuso e aga bokamoso (Help Builds the Future), a national Community Service Day initiative delivered in partnership with the Education Infrastructure Management Company (EIMC). The initiative reaffirms the Bank’s long-standing commitment to creating meaningful impact in communities by helping build safer and more conducive learning environments for Botswana’s learners.
Through the initiative, the FNBB Foundation has committed P950,000 towards improving learning environments in communities across Botswana. The investment will go towards the refurbishment of 20 public schools and also help support the logistics required to deliver the project nationwide.
EIMC is a Government of Botswana entity responsible for improving and managing education infrastructure across the country. One of its flagship programmes, Ke Abela Sekolo, serves as a national partnership platform that brings together government, businesses, organisations and communities to invest in creating safer, more conducive learning environments for Botswana’s learners.
As the inaugural private-sector partner supporting the programme, the FNBB Foundation is investing in the refurbishment of 20 public schools across Botswana, helping address critical infrastructure needs while creating environments that support teaching and learning.
On Thursday, 16 July 2026, FNB Botswana employees from branches and business units across the country will join EIMC, local artisans and school communities in a coordinated national day of service. Together, they will repair and install classroom doors and windows in selected schools, helping create warmer, safer and more dignified learning environments for learners during the winter season.
Speaking on the partnership, FNB Botswana Deputy CEO, Dr Mbako Mbo, said the initiative embodies the true meaning of help by bringing together people and organisations to invest in future generations.
“As FNB Botswana celebrates 35 years of serving this country, we continue to reflect on the legacy we wish to leave behind. We hope that our success will never be measured solely by financial performance, but equally by the opportunities we help create, the lives we positively influence and the institutions we strengthen. We want our contribution to Botswana to be visible not only in boardrooms and balance sheets, but also in classrooms, communities and the aspirations of young people whose futures become brighter because someone chose to help.”
He added that the initiative demonstrates the Foundation’s commitment to creating sustainable impact through meaningful partnerships.
“Meaningful change happens when organisations work alongside communities. By partnering with EIMC, engaging local artisans and mobilising our own employees, we are combining resources, skills and time to make a tangible difference where it is needed most. This initiative reflects what can be achieved when government, business and communities work together towards a shared goal.”
In addition to improving schools, the initiative will support local economic participation by engaging artisans and suppliers within the communities where the work will take place, ensuring that the investment creates value beyond the classroom.
The national volunteer effort forms part of FNB Botswana’s annual Community Service Day, which encourages employees to contribute their time and skills to projects that positively impact the communities the Bank serves. This year’s initiative is particularly significant as it forms part of the Bank’s 35 Years of Help celebrations, demonstrating how help continues to evolve from supporting individual needs to building stronger communities and investing in Botswana’s future.
