Botswana’s athletics spotlight will shine brightly in Brussels, Belgium this weekend as Busang Collen Kebinatshipi and Letsile Tebogo chase what could be a historic double victory at the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final.
Kebinatshipi takes centre stage tonight, Friday, September 4, when he lines up in the men’s 400m final at the King Baudouin Stadium. The reigning world champion arrives as one of the biggest favourites after an extraordinary season in which he has remained unbeaten internationally. He has also produced some of the fastest times in history, including a stunning 43.44 seconds in Monaco, making him the sixth-fastest man ever over the distance.
The 22-year-old now has an opportunity to add the Diamond League trophy to his growing collection of honours. His biggest challenge will come from a quality field featuring Matthew Hudson-Smith, Jacory Patterson, Zakithi Nene and Jereem Richards.

Then, on Saturday, September 5, Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo takes his turn. The 23-year-old enters the final determined to finally capture the Diamond League crown after coming agonisingly close in previous campaigns. His 19.84-second season best keeps him firmly among the world’s elite, while his personal best of 19.46 remains the fourth-fastest time ever recorded.
Tebogo faces a formidable field led by American star Kenneth Bednarek, alongside Sinesipho Dambile, Reynier Mena and Makanakaishe Charamba.
For Botswana, this is more than another athletics meeting. Kebinatshipi and Tebogo are carrying the hopes of a nation—and the possibility of bringing home two prestigious Diamond League trophies.
