Orange Botswana has announced its partnership with the World Athletics U20 and Botswana’s 100m champion, Letsile Tebogo. This is in line with Orange Botswana’s commitment to recognising individual talent and supporting the growth of local sports. This partnership will see Orange Botswana back the champion by providing financial support as part of the athlete’s growth in competitive sports. Moreover, Tebogo will be the face of Orange Botswana across its products and services offerings.

Said Orange Botswana CEO, Ms. Nene Maiga, ” As Orange Botswana, we are always looking for ways to support our youth and sports in various ways. Letsile Tebogo is a force to be reckoned with and an inspiration to young Batswana, having demonstrated the value of sports in Botswana through his achievements, we found it compelling to partner with him as we play our part in creating more sporting opportunities for Botswana. We strive to develop long-term relationships with inspirational young Batswana, like Tebogo who are dedicated, hard-working and those who show excellence in what they do.”

Over the years, Orange Botswana has continued to make a positive impact in supporting local sports. The organisation has been the main sponsor of the Orange Phikwe National Marathon for 6-years, which has discovered talented runners in Botswana. Furthermore, Orange Botswana has partnered with Botswana Football Association (BFA) to host the Orange FA Cup Tournament, which adds value to the football sporting code in Botswana. This is a testament to Orange Botswana’s dedication to the growth and development of various sporting codes in Botswana.

“Through our collaboration with Letsile Tebogo, we recognise the importance of sports activities beyond unity and relationship strengthening. Sports is becoming an increasingly important industry for economic diversification. It has resulted in the creation of jobs for youth and has also elevated Botswana to international prominence. It is for this reason that we are proud to always look for purposeful ways to support and empower the development of local skills and talent pool in our sports industry,” concluded Maiga.

Letsile Tebogo is a renowned sprinter and one of the country’s most celebrated young athletes. He is currently the World U20 100m record holder making him the fastest U20 in the world. He also became the first Motswana to win the 100m title at the World Championship at Oregon, United States of America. He won the gold medal in the 100m and silver in the 200m at both the 2021 and 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships.
