Network giant, Mascom is supporting this year’s Albert Milton Foundation AM640+ Endurance Cycling Challenge, reinforcing its commitment to using partnerships, sport and community investment to create meaningful impact for Batswana. The three-day endurance ride, which set off from Jwaneng and will conclude in Maun, brings together cyclists and partners in support of education, health, ICT access and community empowerment.
The partnership forms part of Mascom’s broader commitment to community development and aligns with its purpose of “Powering Connections that Inspire Change”, as well as its corporate social investment pillars of Education, ICT Development and Vulnerable Groups.
The send-off was preceded by a dinner held in Jwaneng on 20 September 2026, attended by the Assistant Minister of Health, Mr Lawrence Ookeditse; the Mayor of Jwaneng, His Worship Mr Ronica Ntsimako; Mrs Albertinah Milton and representatives of the Albert Milton Foundation; fellow chief executives and corporate leaders, including Mascom’s sector regulator, Mr Mokgware of BOCRA; along with sponsors, cyclists and other distinguished guests.
During the dinner, Mascom presented a donation of 130 co-branded backpacks and stationery items towards Metsimantsho Primary School in Charleshill. The donation will be formally handed over to the school’s administration.

Speaking at the send-off dinner, Mascom Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Dzene Makhwade-Seboni, said the AM640+ stood apart from other cycling events on the Botswana calendar because of its scale and endurance demands.
“While many races in Botswana have a CSR aspect to them, this one is different. The AM640+ is an endurance challenge that spans days of long distance, gruelling cycling, all for a cause. The ride from Jwaneng to Maun is not merely a fun challenge, but tangible evidence of your support for education, health, ICT access and community empowerment,” said Makhwade-Seboni.
The route of the AM640+ traverses the Trans Kalahari region, home to some of Africa’s longest-living indigenous groups and the Kalahari Desert. Mascom noted that it has previously undertaken community upliftment projects in a number of villages along the route, including Samane, Tsabong, Hukuntsi, Gantsi, D’Kar, Kuke, Toteng and Maun.
The Mascom CEO said Mascom’s participation in the AM640+ was aligned with the company’s purpose of Powering Connections that Inspire Change, and with its corporate social investment pillars of Education, ICT Development and Vulnerable Groups.
“At Mascom, we believe in the power of collective action to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Batswana. Our flagship sport-related CSR movement, the Mascom Batanani Walk, is a prime example of this commitment to collaboration to create impact. Through the AM640+ partnership, we stand alongside like-minded entities who are working to create lasting social value,” said Makhwade-Seboni.
The AM640+ cyclists are expected to complete their three-day journey to Maun in the coming days.
