This school holiday, the Orange Digital Center (ODC) is turning its doors into a hub of innovation for Botswana’s youth. The Super Coders Vacation Camp or the Canva Design Camp started from last week Monday until 5 September 2025targeting children aged 9 to 17 years.
The camps offer participants hands-on experience in coding and graphic design, providing practical skills that go beyond recreational screen time. The Super Coders Camp focuses on Scratch Coding, teaching students the fundamentals of programming through game creation, while the Canva Design Camp equips them with graphic design skills to build personal branding kits and visual portfolios.
“Through these camps, we aim to empower the next generation of Batswana to not just consume technology, but to create it,” said Tebogo Nadisah, Orange Botswana Public Relations and Communications Manager. “The Orange Digital Center is more than a tech hub it’s a space where young people gain real skills, build confidence, and see that their ideas can come to life.”
Orange Botswana said the initiative is part of a wider strategy to nurture future innovators, with advanced programs in coding, design, and entrepreneurship available for students who show aptitude and interest. By offering high-quality programs at no cost, Orange reinforces its commitment to equitable access to digital education. This training follows the For Good Connections training in June that equipped the teenagers with responsible digital use and create awareness around cyber bullying.
“Every child should have the opportunity to explore technology and design, regardless of background or financial means,” Nadisah added.
Parents, educators, and community leaders are encouraged to support participation, helping children develop skills that could form the foundation of future-ready careers
