Another three bite the dust as Big Soso, Ivatar and Doris are evicted from the BBNaija House

And the ladies didn’t mince their words when speaking to Ebuka. “Tonight’s episode comes with a warning: don’t snooze because it’s going to be eviction after
eviction.”

Those were Big Brother Naija host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu’s words on Sunday – and the triple- whammy eviction proved that while our host may sometimes tell a joke, he won’t tell a lie. Big Soso, Ivatar and Doris didn’t garner enough votes to stay in Biggie’s house, leaving 19housemates still in the running for the incredible N150-million grand prize.

Despite being evicted, Big Soso was in high spirits, even joking that her clothes no longer fit her because “I’ve been chopping, chopping, chopping”.

When asked by Ebuka why she often referred to other housemates as her children, she said: “I have a very motherly nature – I have six younger brothers and sisters. People usually draw to me for my motherly nature, and I didn’t ask for it. [The other housemates] wanted to do that so for me it was an honour. Most of them don’t have their mom or sister with them and I just wanted to be that person.”

After dramatic bickering with Mensan last week, Ivatar told Ebuka that Mensan “had a lot to say but nothing to say at the same time, so I just wanted to know what his problem was”.

Ebuka tried to get to the root of the issue, asking how the two went from friends to screaming matches. “He was going behind my back, whispering things to all the housemates. I already felt that they didn’t like or connect with me, so he did a good job making them not like me more, which is fine,” said Ivatar.

Doris said she was surprised to be evicted: “I’m not trying to shade anybody, but I put in so much work while I was in the house. I’m actually quite shocked. There are so many people who are not as interesting as I am. The votes are the votes, I guess.” When Ebuka pointed out that being in the house for six weeks was an amazing run, Doris responded: “But 10 is even better.”

And what about her relationship with Denari? “[He] is my kind of guy. Double D for life, I can’t wait for him to come out,” she gushed.

The Sunday night episode was so “bumpy with evictions” (in Ebuka’s words) that it left little room for anything else. Kaybobo was named the Most Influential Housemate – the announcement made him so emotional he fell to his knees.

The theme of the week was Bare Minimum, with housemates living without luxuries and even some essentials – what a week for Faith to be Head of House. He initially ruled with an iron fist, which didn’t do much for his popularity – but at least the housemates won the wager and had a very lit party week.

In the romance department, Bright Morgan declared his feelings for Mide, while Rooboy did the same with Thelma Lawson and didn’t quite get the desired result. Joanna answered theRed Telephone and accepted a three-night trip. Unbeknownst to her (and her fellow housemates), the money to pay for it will come from the grand prize.

As Ebuka said, the drama never ends on BBNaija: “The mid-season madness is nothing short of incredible. How do you stand out in a house full of people with the same goal?” Well, here’s to another week of us finding out.
