Geremie Njitap, renowned former player for Real Madrid and Chelsea and current president of FIFPRO Africa and SYNAFOC in Cameroon, will deliver the keynote address at the third Footballers Union of Botswana (FUB) elective congress scheduled for this weekend at Oasis Hotel in Tlokweng.

Njitap’s participation underscores his commitment to fostering international solidarity and advancing dialogue within the football community. Drawing on his distinguished career as a Cameroonian midfielder, he is anticipated to offer valuable insights from his extensive experience both on and off the field.

“Football represents more than a sport; it serves as a catalyst for unity, opportunity, and optimism. Each participant is a member of an international community. I encourage us to collaborate in supporting one another,” Njitap remarked prior to the congress.
As part of his responsibilities with FIFPRO Africa, Njitap has been engaging with members across the continent to better understand their concerns and to develop informed perspectives for discussions with key stakeholders in the sport.

FIFPRO Africa General Secretary Kgosana Masaseng emphasized that Njitap’s visit represents a continued commitment to shared ambitions and the enduring spirit of football. During his time in Botswana, Njitap will listen to players’ issues and contribute to ongoing dialogues.

Masaseng additionally stated that recent interactions with stakeholders at both continental and global forums are anticipated to provide valuable insights and strengthen forthcoming dialogues with regulatory bodies governing the game.

Additional speakers at the event include Tshepiso Mbereki, Secretary General of the Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU); Sipho Showa, chairperson of the Botswana Football League (BFL); Oabile Thona Babitseng, president of the Botswana Football Association; and Boineelo Hardy, deputy permanent secretary from the Ministry of Sport and Arts.
