Local gym and fitness apparel, DKM Athleisure has found its footing in an international brands dominated space of the gym and fitness rooms. The apparel, the brain child idea of a young Motswana Thato Motladiile (35) started its retail business in 2016.

However it was in 2021 when it started receiving high volumes of requests among its audiences. Among the influential fitness fanatics donning the apparel include Fitness Candy, Glory Rankgomo, Kelebogile Megano, Bonolo Nollie and Daniel Moeng.

Motladiile says they focus on selling men and women’s active wear that is designed to be fashionable but also have high performance.

“I noticed a gap in the local market for active wear brands and that’s how DKM Athleisure was born. When I conceptualized this apparel I was depressed and I wanted an excuse to relieve pain, so I also wanted to help others going through pain to find joy in working out”, recalls Motladiile.

Motladiile also narrates that his apparel is to help fitness enthusiasts to be more confident and passionate. A budding entrepreneur in his own right, Motladiile graduated with BA Product Design from Curtin University and he is the Brand Strategist, Advocate for Athleisure and Active living, DKM Athleisure ‘s Brand Chairman, Founder of ThreeSixty Brand Consulting.

One of the influencers Nollie says she has fell in love with the apparel. “They are very comfortable and they are of an amazing quality as well and they are super affordable. They make gym easier for me cos they make me look cute and when I feel cute I do my best in the gym room. I always look up to getting to the gym as I know feeling cute pushes me further.
